Chef Marcelo Rubio is a California native who grew up with an immense passion for cooking. Throughout the 20 plus years of his culinary career, he’s worn many different hats from Executive Chef to Director of Dining Services, Chef Instructor, and currently a Regional Executive Chef.
In the past, Chef Rubio has worked with Nintendo of America and Disney & ABC Studios. He was also the Chef Instructor at Tspoons Cooking School, as well as the Director of Dining Services at Brookdale in San Juan Capistrano, California.
About 10 years ago, Chef Rubio found himself becoming very passionate about healthy foods that provided optimal wellness for his guests. He has pursued this passion and for that has been recognized with many awards such as the Chief Nursing Officer Award at UCI Health in 2020, Thrive Award Watermark Communities in 2011, and Culinary Manager of the Year at Sodexo, Senior Services in 2010.
Chef Rubio currently oversees the culinary operations of thirteen hospitals and rehab facilities for Morrison Healthcare. One of his main tasks is to help develop the menus and manage daily food production.
Chef Rubio currently resides in San Clemente with his wife, Patti. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, music, good restaurants, and time with friends. He also enjoys cooking healthy, simple quick-fire dishes such as pan-seared Branzino with lemon and capers. “I absolutely adore Scallops and my wife loves Lobster. When it comes to selecting a menu at home it’s a divided house and Patti usually wins!”
