This is not your parents’ farmed seafood. Aquaculture – the practice of raising fish, shellfish, and seaweed – shares many qualities with modern-day agriculture. Although it offers a lower carbon footprint than other farmed proteins and great potential to deliver high-quality, nutritious seafood to our growing population, it must be done responsibly.

That’s where the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) comes in. ASC’s sea green certification label means your seafood was raised according to the world’s strictest standards for responsible aquaculture, including care for people, fish, and the environment.

This summer, Santa Monica Seafood is collaborating with ASC to share the fresh quality and delicious flavors of certified, responsibly raised seafood.

Each week from June 16 - July 27, we will spotlight a select ASC-certified seafood product and responsible farm in both of our market and café locations.
