Characteristics

Rainbow trout is somewhat delicate, with a delicious, mild and nutty flavor. When cooked, rainbow trout is tender and flaky. Rainbow trout has a much more subdued color than other trout (or salmon).

Our butterfly and natural fillets are completely boneless.

Alternatives include char, red trout or salmon.

For Your Menu

Whole trout are wonderful for stuffing – try wild rice or other grains, bacon, or seasoned crabmeat. These delicate fillets are also tasty on top of a salad, and are wonderful smoked! Smoked trout salad or chowder is a great way to add this fish to your menu.

For Your Waitstaff

Fishermen love this tasty game fish – responsibly farm raising it means we can enjoy it year round without impacting wild populations.  This is a great option for customers who have concerns about mercury or other pollutants in seafood, since farmed rainbow trout are given high marks for nutrition and safety.

For Your Retail Display

Make sure you ice your seafood case well and add a few greens before placing the rainbow trout on top. This will create and a beautiful presentation and makes the product pop.
