Executive Chef Igor Krichmar brings years of impeccable culinary and hospitality experience at prestigious restaurants in England, Las Vegas, Utah and California to InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown. With his extensive background in fresh and simple cuisine, Krichmar leads the culinary charge by crafting new menus and spearheading the hotel’s culinary mission. Additionally, Krichmar oversees the overall flow of InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown’s six impressive dining concepts: La Boucherie, Spire 73, Dekkadance, Sora, No Dive Bar, and the Lobby Lounge.

Chef Krichmar’s time spent fishing with his father in the countryside of Illinois and Michigan helped teach him patience and respect for nature. When it comes to cooking seafood, “do not over complicate it; be very gentle with it and let the ingredient speak for itself.” However, Krichmar’s favorite seafood, Spanish Octopus, is a very temperamental ingredient to cook. “Overcooking it can ruin the flavor and texture, while undercooking it can ruin the whole protein completely.”

Coming from high end, 5 star properties, Krichmar says “quality should always come first, because that is what brings the guests back for a second, third, and fourth time around.” It is a reason he works with Santa Monica Seafood, “their quality, professionalism and care are beyond any 5 stars.”
